Unpredictability: What Makes Formula Two Just As Enjoyable As Formula One
The Races don't clash with F1
As the Formula Two party travels with Formula One, the timings don't clash with the former having it's sessions squeezed between the F1 schedule providing nonstop entertainment for the fans.
Exiting Weekend Format
The weekend kicks off with practice and qualifying sessions on Friday followed by a Feature race on Saturday. A shorter Sprint Race takes place on Sunday. It's grid is determined by where the driver finishes his feature race. The top eight start in reverse order while the rest start where they finished. This is a brilliant format as it gives drivers who aren't usually contenders a chance to step on the podium.
Closer Racing
While Formula One has been striving for years to bridge the gap between the leaders and backmarkers, Formula Two has no worries as it is a spec-series, meaning that all the cars are based on the same model provided by Dallara. This means that the driver is the one who can make the difference. In fact, the majority of races are better than F1 due to this very factor.
It's the Final Stepping Stone before F1
Formula Two is filled with talented youngsters such who are ready to prove themselves F1 worthy including Mick Schumacher (Yes, Michael Schumacher's son), Callum Ilott, Nikita Mazepin, and Robert Schwatzman who are all looking to fill in the vacant Haas seats next year while Yuki Tsunoda looks set to drive for Alpha Tauri next year.
Cars Can Follow Easily
The car is a lot simpler than an F1 car and doesn't have that many features meaning that cars can follow very easily. Formula One is trying to achieve this. The new regulation changes in 2022 will help F1's case but it still won't be as effective as Formula Two.
Accesibility
While Formula One is live streamed on Disney+ Hotstar and broadcasted on the Star Sports network in India, Formula Two is live streamed on the official F1 Youtube Channel for free, giving fans all over the world easy access to top-quality racing.
These are a few reasons which should convince any racing fan to follow this brilliant series. Many fans have criticized the FIA's move to reduce the amount of race weekends for Formula Two and rightly so as we all want the closest, most unpredictable racing to happen more often, don't we?
